Environmental Banc and Exchange Awarded Six New Contracts From NC Ecosystem Enhancement Program

June 20, 2006: Environmental Banc and Exchange (EBX) has won six new streambed and wetlands projects with a value of over $11 million from the North Carolina Ecosystem Enhancement Program (NCEEP). The awarded sites, which will restore and preserve over seven miles of streambeds and 28 acres of wetlands, include:

  • Beaverdam Swamp - located in the Cape Fear Basin in Harnett County
  • Coleman Road - located in the Cape Fear Basin, includes tributaries to Flat Swamp ditch in Cumberland County, eight miles Northeast of Fayetteville
  • 601 North - located in the Yadkin Basin, includes tributaries to Wicker Branch in Union County, seven miles South of Monroe
  • 601 West - located in the Yadkin Basin, includes tributaries to Lanes Creek in Union County, eight miles South of Monroe
  • Wolf Pond - located in the Yadkin Basin, includes tributaries to Adams Branch in Union County, five miles South of Monroe
  • Morgan Creek - located in the Broad River Basin, includes Morgan Creek and nine tributaries in McDowell County, one mile Southeast of Sugar Hill

All awarded sites are approved for stream mitigation by the NC EEP; two, Coleman Road and Beaverdam, are also approved for wetland mitigation as well.
