Conservation Organization Managers
“We know EBX’s beliefs are in the right place. They are focused on delivering a net-positive impact to the environment while applying innovative real estate financing that enabled us to do a project that we otherwise might not have been able to do.”
—Andy Johnson, North American Land Trust.
Our Service
EBX works with Non-Governmental Organizations to develop land preservation solutions that take advantage of market and incentive based strategies. Utilizing partnership arrangements, EBX capitalizes and implements mitigations and restoration projects, donates conservation easements, and generates attractive returns which help support the land preservation objectives.
Core Value
EBX’s tailored solutions add value by:
- Serving as a capital partner with compatible core values
- Enabling preservation of ecosystems by introducing alternative funding scenarios
- Creating a larger preserved land area than may be achieved with solely a preservation approach
Typical Project and Solution
EBX assists natural and local land trusts and conservation and wildlife organizations in many ways. Each solution is unique depending on the ecological conditions and the preservation objectives. As an example, an ecologically important tract of land is identified consisting of 4000 acres of which 3000 acres are pristine forest and stream, with another 1000 of prior converted wetlands. In order to purchase the land, the organization needs a supplemental funding source which can be supplied through a mitigation banking instrument created by EBX. In this case EBX will:
- Analyze the entire property
- Identify mitigation bank and nutrient trading opportunities
- Formulate a partnership agreement whereby EBX will apply its capital to purchase the bankable land, perform the restoration, and sell the restored tract with easements to the conservation organization
