When development affects important environmental features, EBX’s ecosystem service offerings ensure that developers have an effective means of offsetting the specific impacts that occur, and that the costs are included in the development price on a fixed unit cost basis.

Typical Project and Solution

EBX applies its expertise in real estate to provide individualized solutions. For example, to maximize the utility of a property slated for high density mixed use development, a stream and wetland will be impacted. To facilitate project completion in a timely and cost sensitive fashion, EBX will:

• Review the locations and timing of ecosystem mitigation needs
• Interface with regulators and engineers
• Aggregate needs with others in the service area to achieve economies of scale
• Apply EBX’s capital to acquire control of land for restoration
• Perform the turn-key ecosystem restoration required to generate environmental credits
• Sell the environmental credits to the client on a fixed unit cost basis
• Assume the long term liability for maintaining the ecosystem
